Hotels are classic high-energy-consumption buildings with simultaneous demands for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water (DHW). Statistics show that DHW can account for up to 28% of total hotel energy consumption . Water tanks function as "energy banks" within heat pump systems—storing thermal energy during low-demand periods and releasing it during peak hours. This ensures guest comfort while achieving energy savings and cost reduction. The following six international cases demonstrate the diverse applications of heat pump and water tank synergy across different countries and climatic conditions.
This project involved a hot water system upgrade for a major brand hotel with 111 bedrooms, completed by Winrow Building Services. The new system replaced an existing electric hot water system (1500L storage + 36kW electric heating), aiming to improve energy efficiency and long-term reliability

R290 Natural Refrigerant: Using propane (R290) as refrigerant with GWP of only 3, compliant with EU F-Gas regulations and significantly more environmentally friendly than traditional refrigerants. R290 heat pumps achieve 10% higher efficiency and can deliver flow temperatures up to 75°C .
Bespoke Prefeed Vessel: The 800L prefeed vessel is custom-designed to integrate perfectly with the heat pump system, optimizing operational efficiency and maximizing overall system performance .
Dual-Tank Design: The prefeed vessel works in coordination with two 500L electric cylinders, ensuring continuous hot water supply for 111 bedrooms while handling instantaneous peak demands from conference rooms and restaurant.
