       Copeland and Daikin Expand Joint Venture for R290 Inverter Swing Rotary Compressors in European Heat Pump Market

Global HVAC giants Copeland and Daikin have further upgraded their strategic partnership, expanding their joint venture to supply advanced inverter swing rotary compressors to the European residential heat pump industry. Following the U.S. market cooperation launched in late 2024, the two parties will deepen technology integration starting in 2026.

The newly co-developed compressor platform is specially optimized for R290 natural refrigerant, fully complying with EU F-Gas regulation restrictions on high-GWP synthetic refrigerants. Adopting Daikin’s proprietary swing rotary compression technology and Copeland’s system matching & global channel advantages, the series achieves ultra-high energy efficiency, wide operating temperature range, low vibration and low noise performance.

These compressors will be supplied to European heat pump OEM manufacturers, matching complete electrical control systems to shorten product development and launch cycles for whole-unit brands. The product lineup covers multiple power ranges for household monobloc and split heat pumps, strongly supporting Europe’s fossil fuel phase-out and residential heating decarbonization transition.

  The joint venture will initially complete production layout at Copeland’s existing European manufacturing bases, gradually covering the European Economic Area, UK and Swiss markets. This cooperation marks a major upgrade of high-efficiency natural refrigerant compressor technology popularization in the global heat pump sector.
